Sled Glute Dominant Leg Press
How to do it
Starting position
- Place your feet wide, slightly higher than the center of the footplate.
- Press your back and glutes completely against the seat.
- Grip the handles and release the safety bar.
Movement
- Slowly bend your knees so they point in the direction of your toes.
- Push through your whole foot and extend your legs.
- Press only until just before your knees fully extend.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower the platform and exhale as you press it up.
Cautions
- If your knees cave inward, it strains the joints, so be careful.
- If your back comes off the platform, it can cause back injury, so keep it pressed firmly against it.

How GYMKC sets the weight for this exercise
For example, if you do 8 reps with 40 kg and log that you could have done about 2 more, GYMKC estimates your 1RM at about 54.1 kg.
With the leg press, each step is 5 kg (10 lb), so the next weight is 45 kg. Within your 8–15 reps target, the sets you log decide whether to add reps first or add weight.
These numbers are an example of how the calculation works. Your actual prescription is recalculated every set from your own records. See how the calculation works
