Demo (loops)

How to do it

Starting position

  1. Lie face down in front of the bench and place your hands shoulder-width apart
  2. Place the balls of your feet securely on the bench
  3. Position yourself so your wrists and shoulders are vertically aligned
  4. Maintain a straight line from head to toe

Movement

  1. Slowly bend your elbows and lower your chest toward the floor
  2. Squeeze your armpits and push hard into the floor
  3. Push up until just before your elbows fully lock out

Breathing

Inhale as you lower your body and exhale as you push up

Trainer tips

  • Place your feet on a bench or box
  • Brace your core to keep your body in a straight line
  • Lower with your chest, not your forehead

Cautions

  • Bending your wrists excessively can cause pain, so press into the floor with your entire palms
  • It can strain your shoulder joints, so keep your elbows at a 45-degree angle to your torso
  • Overarching and sagging the lower back
  • Bending only the neck down

If you feel pain during the exercise, stop. If it continues, talk to a professional.
