EZ Barbell Incline Triceps Extension
How to do it
Starting position
- Set the bench to about 45 degrees and sit with your back against it.
- Take a close grip on the curved part of the EZ bar.
- Extend your arms overhead to get into the starting position.
- Tuck your elbows in and keep them pinned in place.
Movement
- Bend only your elbows to lower the bar behind your head.
- Lower down to the point where your triceps are stretched tight.
- Keep your elbows in place and press the bar up.
- Don't fully lock out at the top, and keep tension in your triceps.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower, exhale as you push up.
Cautions
- If your elbows flare out, power leaks and it puts strain on the joints.
- If your shoulders move as well, your back works instead of your triceps.
- Because you lower it behind your head, do not rush to increase the weight.

How GYMKC sets the weight for this exercise
For example, if you do 10 reps with 60 kg and log that you could have done about 2 more, GYMKC estimates your 1RM at about 86.5 kg.
With the EZ bar, each step is 2.5 kg (5 lb), so the next weight is 62.5 kg. Within your 10–15 reps target, the sets you log decide whether to add reps first or add weight.
These numbers are an example of how the calculation works. Your actual prescription is recalculated every set from your own records. See how the calculation works
