Ab Coaster Oblique Crunch
How to do it
Starting position
- Turn the knee pad to the side and lock it in one direction.
- Kneel on the pad and grip the handles firmly.
- Brace your abs and keep your back straight.
Movement
- Use your lower abs and obliques to pull your knees up toward your chest.
- At the top, squeeze your obliques briefly.
- Slowly lower down along the track.
- Complete the target reps and switch sides.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull up, inhale as you lower.
Cautions
- If you pull up with your arms, your abs won't work. Use your hands only for support.
- If you bounce with momentum, you only increase range of motion and reduce tension.

How GYMKC sets the weight for this exercise
For example, if you do 10 reps with 40 kg and log that you could have done about 2 more, GYMKC estimates your 1RM at about 57.6 kg.
With the ab crunch machine, each step is 5 kg (10 lb), so the next weight is 45 kg. Within your 10–20 reps target, the sets you log decide whether to add reps first or add weight.
These numbers are an example of how the calculation works. Your actual prescription is recalculated every set from your own records. See how the calculation works
