Band Pushdown
How to do it
Starting position
- Secure the band firmly above head height
- Grip both ends of the band and stand with your feet shoulder-width apart
- Bend your knees slightly and hinge your torso forward
- Keep your elbows tucked tight against your sides
Movement
- Pivot at your elbows and press the band down
- Fully extend your arms and contract your triceps
- Slowly return to the starting position while feeling the resistance
Breathing
Exhale as you lower the band, and inhale as you raise it
Trainer tips
- Extend all the way and squeeze your triceps
Cautions
- If your elbows drift, it strains the joints, so keep them pinned
- Shrugging your shoulders risks injury, so keep them down
- Moving the elbows and letting the shoulders engage
- Band tension being too weak
If you feel pain during the exercise, stop. If it continues, talk to a professional.
