Bodyweight Standing Calf Raise on a Stepbox
How to do it
Starting position
- Stand on the front of the step box with only the balls of your feet.
- Let your heels hang completely off the box in the air.
- Hold a wall or post with both hands to balance yourself.
- Look straight ahead and lightly brace your abs.
Movement
- Slowly push your heels up as high as possible.
- Pause for 1 second at the top and squeeze your calves.
- Slowly lower your heels below the box to stretch.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower your heels, and exhale as you raise them.
Cautions
- Lowering your heels hastily strains your Achilles tendon, so do it slowly.
- Losing your balance can twist and injure your ankle, so hold on firmly with your hands.
