Incline Push-Up
How to do it
Starting position
- Stand in front of the bench and place your hands shoulder-width apart
- Step your feet back to angle your body
- Spread your fingers wide and grip the floor firmly
- Look at the floor ahead of your hands
Movement
- Slowly bend your elbows and lower your body
- Engage your lats and push the floor away
- Push up until just before your elbows are fully extended
Breathing
Inhale as you lower your body and exhale as you push up
Trainer tips
- Place your hands on a bench or ledge
- Keep your body in a straight line
- Lower until your chest touches the support
Cautions
- Sagging your lower back can cause lower back pain, so brace your abs
- Shrugging your shoulders strains the joints, so keep them away from your ears
- Dropping the hips first
- Bending the wrists excessively
If you feel pain during the exercise, stop. If it continues, talk to a professional.
