Close Grip Push-Up
How to do it
Starting position
- Lie face down on the mat and place both hands on the floor narrower than shoulder-width.
- Bring both feet together, support your body on your toes, and push up off the floor.
- Brace your abs and glutes so your body forms a straight line from head to toe.
Movement
- Lower your entire body toward the floor, keeping your elbows skimming your sides.
- Slowly lower your body until just before your chest touches the floor.
- Push hard into the floor with your palms and return to the starting position.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower your body, and exhale as you push up.
Cautions
- Flaring your elbows out strains the elbow joints, so keep them close to your body.
- Sagging your lower back can cause back pain, so brace your abs tight.
