Lying Leg Raise
How to do it
Starting position
- Lie flat on your back on the floor
- Rest your arms comfortably at your sides
- Lightly press your palms into the floor
- Extend both legs straight and bring them together
Movement
- Engage your abs and slowly raise your legs
- Raise until your pelvis lifts slightly off the floor
- Slowly lower your legs back toward the floor
Breathing
Exhale as you raise your legs and inhale as you lower them
Trainer tips
- Lift your legs while keeping your lower back against the floor
- Stop before your lower back lifts as you lower
- Maintain tension in your abs
Cautions
- Lowering your legs too low poses a risk of lumbar injury, so be careful
- Lifting the lower back and forming an arch
- Throwing the legs with momentum
If you feel pain during the exercise, stop. If it continues, talk to a professional.
